Common questions
Which province has the highest take-home pay?
On an $85,000 salary in 2026, Nunavut has the highest take-home pay of the 12 provinces and territories covered (about $65,779 a year) and Nova Scotia the lowest (about $59,455), a gap of about $6,324 a year. Quebec is not included.
Why is take-home pay different by province?
CPP and EI are the same everywhere outside Quebec, and federal tax is the same too. The difference is provincial or territorial income tax: each has its own brackets, rates and basic personal amount, and Ontario adds a surtax and health premium.
